The small province of Chai Nat is located to the northwest of the Ayutthaya. It was built during the Ayutthaya period, where it was designed to be a defensive front agaianst the continuing threat of attack by the Burmese. It was so highly successful against the Burmese that the town was named Chai Nat, or "Place of Victory".
